Our Philosophy

At London School, our philosophy is to provide good quality training with highly skilled, attentive instructions in a creative environment and provide our students with as much hands on training as possible. We pride ourselves in focusing our program on 90% hands on practical work to ensure our students have as much opportunity as possible to perfect their advanced skills.

What’s in a name? Sometimes everything! There’s a reason why London Schools name is synonymous with barbering in Vancouver. It’s because so much of the barbering industry started their career at London School. We are definitely Western Canada’s most recognized premier barbering school.

With the support of a London School education, our 90% hands-on program is a well balanced mixture of old school barbering techniques coupled with modern trends and advanced men’s cutting skills ensuring our alumni longevity in their career. Working with our expert instructional team we’ll ensure you have the practice knowledge, business skills and behind-the-chair experience you need to transition seamlessly from student to professional.

-Tapering technques

-Layering and texturing

-Styling with 2 different brushes

-Shave room sanitization and disinfection

-Fundamentals of shaving

-Basics of men’s colouring

-Grey coverage for men

CUTS 101

-Blunt cut

-Graduaton cut

-Uniform layer cut

-Classic men’s cut

-Flat top

-Basic fade

-Medium taper fade


Level II

-Advanced blended scissor over comb and tapering techniques

-Full gentlemen’s shave

-Shaping of hairlines and perimeter edging

-Perm wrap for men’s short hair

-Advanced clipper techniques with clipper over comb, freehand clipper & with clipper guards

-Beard trims and mustache shaping

-Men’s facial threading (optional)

-Corn row braiding techniques for men’s hair

Advanced cuts

-Razor cuts

-High and tight fade

-Bald fade

-Pompadore

-Modern trends cut (incorporating texturing and disconnection)

Finale Project

Model photo shoot and video shoot (with in house photographer and videographer)

6 months/600 hours

Tuesday to Thursday 9:00AM to 5:30PM

Evening Course:

7 months/600 hours

Monday 9:00AM to 5:30PM

Tuesday to Thursday 5:30PM to 9:30PM

6 theory exams (Based on Milady’s Standard Professional Barbering textbook)

27 practical assessments (Model and clientele services)

Using a 1-4 Rubric grading system. Passing grade in Theory and Practical: 70%

On successful completion of our Old School Barbering course you will receive a diploma from London School. Many of our students have job offers before they’re finished their studies and numerous salons, shop and spa owners approach us in search of new talent.
