Our philosophy

At London School, our philosophy is to provide superb quality training with highly skilled, attentive instructions in a creative environment and provide our students with as much hands on training as possible. We pride ourselves in focusing our program on 90% hands on practical work to ensure our students have as much opportunity as possible to perfect their advanced skills.

London school’s training program is divided into 3 in-depth stages covering all the subjects needed to provide any beginner with the fundamentals and advanced training to pursue a successful career in the world of hairdressing.

Level I

Introduction to all the fundamentals needed to build a strong foundation in the basics ensuring a proper base of understanding for all future training.

Cutting basics which includes : sectioning, clipper/scissor care and handling, tapering techniques, layering and texturing, blunt cuts, men’s cutting basics, graduated layer cut, uniform layer cut

Understanding brushes-

Blow-dry techniques, volume and movement using three different brushes-

Directional rollers-

Comb outs, back combing and styling-

Pin curls, finger waves,flares, and flat pins-

Skip waves-

Curling iron and flat iron techniques-

Thermal styling (compliment to all hair cuts)-

Basic updo’s (bubbles, buns, french rolls, knots and twists)-

Basic braiding (3-5, strand braiding, corn rows, french, rope twists)-

sanitization and infection control-

product knowledge-

Perms (long and short hair techniques, weave and stack, chemical texturing-

Colour technques (full head colour, retouch application, foil highlights, cap- highlights)

Level II

Men’s styling and cutting

-Finishing and styling for men’s hair

-Graduation and tapering techniques on short hair

-Thinning techniques

-Shaping of hairlines and perimeter edging

-Proper use of clipper, clipper over comb, free hand clipper and clipper with guides

-Beard grooming, trimming, edging

-Mustache shaping

-Full gentlemen’s face shave techniques

-Facial threading

-Men’s hair cuts (classic, modern trends, basic fade, medium taper fade, razor cuts and pompadore)

Level III

Picking up more difficult skill sets, ensuring our students are well prepared for a successful career behind a chair

Advanced understanding of styling and blowdrying-

Advanced updo’s with use of clip in extensions, rose bun, chignon, vintage styles and- Hollywood waves

Balayage (3 different styles of applications with or without babylights)-

Ombre techniques-

Piggyback and root perm-

Spiral and hoop perms-

Precision women’s cutting (pixie razor cut, asymmetrical cut, inverted bob, extreme inversion cut)

Finale Project

Model photo shoot and video shoot (with in house photographer and videographer)


9 months/1200 hours

Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 5:30PM

Fees: $10990.00 Payable in monthly installments of $1221.11/month

Student kit and textbook – $1562.00 tax included

7 theory exams (Based on Milady’s Standard Textbook of Cosmetology)

44 practical assessments (Model and clientele services)

Using a 1-4 Rubric grading system. Passing grade in Theory and Practical: 70%

-Behind the chair (industry conduct and consultation)

-Understanding face shapes and body types

-History of hairdressing

-Business and multimedia management

-Colour theory (written test)

-Chemistry texture (written test)

-Infection control and sanitation (written test)

-Properties of hair and scalp (written test)

-Properties of skin and it’s disorders (written test)

-Properties of the nail (written test)

On successful completion of our Hairstylist course you will receive a diploma from London School. Many of our students have job offers before they’re finished their studies and numerous salons, shop and spa owners approach us in search of new talent. We’re proud to see so many of our past graduates working both locally and internationally
